Camp Counselor: Summer 2026! Day Camp
About The Position
The Lakeland Hills Family YMCA is looking for enthusiastic Camp Counselors to help create an unforgettable camp experience for children in our community. If you love staying active, building relationships, and being a role model, this is the job for you. This is a seasonal position with a salary range of $16.50 - $17.00 per hour. The camp runs from June 22nd – August 14th, with an optional extension from August 17th – 21st. Required orientations are scheduled between June 1st and June 14th. Shifts are either 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, with both full and partial program positions available.
Requirements
- 18 years or older
- Entering first year of college, or equivalent
- Prior experience working with children
- First Aid, CPR and AED certified or willing to be
Nice To Haves
- Dance Experience required (for Dance/STEM Academy Counselors)
- STEM experience a plus (for Dance/STEM Academy Counselors)
- Coaching experience (for E-Sport Counselors and Sport Counselors)
- Extensive gaming/competitive gaming experience and knowledge (for E-Sport Counselors)
- Athletic background (for Sport Counselors)
Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage a group of campers throughout the day
- Lead and participate in activities including: Morning rotations, Group time, Hobby activities, Lunch supervision, Theme days and special events
- Create a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for every child
- Build positive relationships with campers and parents
- Follow YMCA safety standards and child protection policies
- Collaborate with Camp Directors, Assistant Directors, and Activity Leaders
- Greet campers daily and ensure smooth transitions throughout the day
