About The Position
With passion and dedication to excellence, the Addams Park Activities Counselor will create a friendly, fun, and open environment while ensuring all safety procedures and protocols for children of all ages. A camp counselor will supervise, educate, and lead children of all ages through different outdoor and indoor recreational activities at camp.
Requirements
- CPR Certified
- Self-motivated, with excellent communication and customer service skills
- Punctual, reliable, organized, and responsible
- Keeps management informed of program and facility needs
- Ensures that safety standards are met, and that department and facility policies are adhered to
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
- General mobility including but not limited to walking, kneeling, and standing for long period of times
Responsibilities
- Leads indoor and outdoor recreational and educational activities gearing them to the needs of various age groups
- Assists in all activities, maintains a positive and inclusive approach with all assigned participants
- Plans and assists in the daily preparation for the camp day; sets up a takes down equipment before and after summer camp activities occur
- Addresses behavioral issues when needed
- Facilitates and encourages participation in camp activities
- Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp program
- Communicates clearly and effectively in written and verbal methods with supervisor, parents, and children
- Informs supervisor when in need of any equipment and/or resources for activities
- Ensures all safety procedures and protocols are being followed by all summer camp participants
- Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance; attends camp counselor meetings when required
- Supervises campers and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being
- Models good behavior for campers as it relates to sportsmanship, manners, and respectfulness
- Interacts with parents in a professional and polite manner
- Reports camper and parent complaints to supervisor as required
- Completes other tasks and duties as assigned
