About The Position

Responsible for the pool and creek activities. Will work with Camp Director to plan and implement activities at both creek and pool. This position will insure that lifeguards, counselors, and children are following all water safety policies and procedures, with some responsibility for pool maintenance, boat programming, and other activities.

Requirements

A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate
Ability to provide documented 2500 hours of child care experience
Lifeguard Training certification
CPR and First Aid certification
Pool Operators Certification

Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of aquatic programming at Camp including Pool and Creek activities.
Oversee lifeguards on duty and insure that all policies and procedures are followed.
Children need to be supervised by sight and sound and all children need to be accounted for at all times. Frequent counts, visual checks, and constant focus on the needs of the children are requirements for this position.
Must be trained to be a Mandated Reporter. Daily health checks are essential to monitor children’s health and safety. Any suspicion of abuse, neglect or any inappropriate treatment of a child needs to be reported directly to Child Line as soon as possible.
Maintain appropriate pool ratios for DHS regulations.
Teach/lead boating programs and swim lessons
Help Camp Director plan camp wide activities
Manage group schedules for pool and creek
Maintain daily log of pool chemical levels
Maintain pool filters. Keep appropriate chemical vessels filled. Backwash pool filters as needed. Trouble shoot all chemical issues, ie: low or high chlorine levels in pool.
Document and maintain camper swim levels and swim zones
Submit timely reports, timesheets, and other documentation
Oversee upkeep of pool and creek equipment
Maintain and communicate the YWCA policies and procedures to staff, children, and parents
Maintain appropriate certifications
