About The Position

ULC Technologies is a dynamic and fast-growing company that leads in product development and engineering services for the natural gas, energy, industrial, and electric markets. This position requires travel to different job locations, typically in the Northeast US region, to perform field work. The chosen candidate must be a self-starter capable of handling a variable task load with minimal supervision, operating our systems in all types of natural gas pipelines and systems. Responsibilities include performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic field repairs of system components, maintaining service vans, interfacing with clients, generating field reports, ensuring camera system components are well-maintained, monitoring spare parts stock, and performing daily system testing. The role also involves becoming an expert in equipment and procedures, performing electrical and mechanical repairs, and implementing Job Safety Briefings while adhering to all safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical background with field experience, equipment maintenance, mechanics, pneumatics, electro-mechanical experience.
  • Hands-on and mechanically and/or electrically inclined.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic field repairs on system components.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Pass a mandatory drug/alcohol test and personal and DOT background checks.
  • Knowledge of trench excavation and OSHA Regulations.
  • Knowledge of utility locating or mark out and CBYD Regulations.
  • Ability to follow strict procedures and directives.
  • Ability to lift 50-75 lbs.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office - Excel, Outlook, Word etc.
  • Must be able to pass Operator Qualification Tasks through the Northeast Gas Association (NGA) and other organizations.
  • Must be able to pass OSHA 10-hour class.
  • Must be able to comprehend and perform required duties after being trained.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in gas related plumbing.
  • Ability to work as part of a team outside in a street/roadwork construction environment.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects when necessary.
  • Okay getting dirty.
  • Willingness to work in varied weather conditions.
  • Knowledge, deep interest or background in robotic controls, electronics, borescopes, pan tilt cameras, robotic crawlers, push cameras, video inspection systems, pipe inspection equipment, pipe inspections system, pipe video inspection, CCTV pipe inspection, drain camera, engineering.
  • Relevant degree is not required but is a plus.
  • Technical certifications.
  • Capability of accurately completing reports outlining daily work performed on a timely basis.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and corrective solutions.
  • Remains calm under pressure to accomplish the task at hand.
  • Any experience with gas pipelines and infrastructure is a plus.
  • Capability of learning procedural protocol during the time they are being trained under an experienced lead technician.
  • Show a desire to learn and perform work on projects of vastly differing scopes and which require a wide variety of skill sets.

Responsibilities

  • Operate systems in all types of natural gas pipelines and systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic field repairs of all system components.
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and provide routine maintenance on service vans.
  • Interface with clients during job site visits and manage client expectations.
  • Generate field reports and any other required documentation.
  • Ensure all camera system components are well maintained and ready for use.
  • Monitor stock of spare parts and perform daily system testing.
  • Become an expert in the use of company equipment and procedures.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical repairs in the field or shop on equipment.
  • Implement Job Safety Briefings and adhere to all safety protocol requirements.
