About The Position

This internship focuses on Alumni Engagement and Recruitment, Building Community and the Alumni Network, WyldLife Leadership, HS Freshman Discipleship, Donor Engagement, and Spiritual Development. The intern will follow Jesus through prayer, spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth, health, and church relationships. They will also focus on Leadership Development by caring for volunteers, recruiting, team building, training, supervision, and vision casting. Resource Development includes assisting with donor communications and networking. Direct Ministry involves contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping. Ministry Support includes adhering to Young Life policies, managing finances, maintaining accurate records, and providing professional communication. The intern will also participate in training provided by local leadership to gain competency in ministry skills and become familiar with area strategy.

Requirements

  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Age 18-26, according to grant requirements.
  • Must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.
  • Must subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith.
  • Be ready, willing and able to fulfill such ministry functions as may be required by the organization.
  • Refrain from conduct and statements that detract from the biblical standards taught and supported by Young Life.
  • Abide by all policies and practices of Young Life including, without limitation, those related to religious belief or ministry activities.

Responsibilities

  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines, in the context of active participation in a parish community.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
  • Meet with volunteer leaders and area leadership on a regular basis.
  • Learn how staff recruit and train new volunteers to build a leadership team that reflects the community.
  • Learn and model excellence when it comes to what Young Life calls contact work, club, Campaigners, camping, and committee.
  • Develop a greater understanding of personal calling, giftedness, and ministry as a vocation.
  • Assist staff in communicating ministry updates and progress with the area’s donors.
  • Observe and learn to network and develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community as assigned by supervisor.
  • Actively engage in contact work with students and adults as directed by the supervisor.
  • Help lead a team to plan and conduct a new or existing Young Life club and Campaigners ministry with excellence.
  • Help lead a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy for a ministry.
  • Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures and maintain professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
  • Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency using the missionwide applications.
  • Maintain accurate information on kids, leaders, and donors for area records.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication to all involved in ministry.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and congruent with gifts, experience, and the area’s needs.
  • Actively engage in training provided by local area leadership to learn and gain competency in ministry skills (e.g., Young Life’s contact work, club, Campaigners, camp, and committee).
  • Become familiar with area strategy and ministry health as assigned by the supervisor.
