About The Position

The CAM Credit & Risk Manager supports the company’s credit underwriting, portfolio risk management, and enterprise risk activities across the aviation finance and aircraft leasing portfolio. This position provides disciplined credit analysis and risk assessment for airlines, cargo operators, ACMI providers, non-airline counterparties, lessees, and other aviation-related transactions. The position partners closely with Commercial, Technical, Finance, Legal, Treasury, Asset Management, Investment, and other stakeholders to evaluate transaction and portfolio risk, maintain appropriate risk governance, and support informed business decisions. The role requires a commercially pragmatic and independently minded professional who can balance growth objectives, risk-adjusted returns, counterparty quality, asset liquidity, residual value protection, and long-term capital preservation.

Requirements

Professional experience in credit, risk, aviation finance, aircraft leasing, asset-backed finance, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in credit underwriting, portfolio surveillance, lessee assessment, transaction analysis, and risk governance.
Ability to support a disciplined risk function with accountability for credit quality, portfolio monitoring, transaction structuring, approval materials, risk reporting, and stakeholder communication.
Strong understanding of aircraft and engine leasing economics, including lease rates, asset values, maintenance reserves, return conditions, residual value exposure, redelivery risk, concentration risk, and recovery analysis.
Working knowledge of airline and cargo operator credit fundamentals, including liquidity, leverage, fleet strategy, competitive positioning, traffic demand, cargo market cycles, jurisdictional risk, and restructuring dynamics.
Experience evaluating aviation transactions, including aircraft and engine leases, lease extensions, restructurings, acquisitions, sale-leasebacks, disposals, portfolio trades, and customer settlements.
Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
Commercially pragmatic and independently minded, with the ability to balance portfolio growth, risk-adjusted return, counterparty quality, asset liquidity, residual value protection, and long-term capital preservation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex risk considerations clearly and challenge assumptions constructively.
Ability to establish credibility and work effectively with Commercial, Finance, Legal, Technical, Treasury, Investment, and other stakeholders.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to utilize financial analysis, credit analysis, portfolio monitoring, reporting, and presentation tools.
Ability to learn and effectively utilize company-specific financial, leasing, credit, risk, and reporting systems.

Nice To Haves

5+ years of progressive experience in credit, risk, aviation finance, aircraft leasing, transportation finance, asset-backed lending, or a related field, with experience in underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and transaction analysis.
Experience in aircraft leasing, engine leasing, or aviation finance, including exposure to airlines, cargo operators, ACMI providers, express and e-commerce networks, and other aviation counterparties.
Familiarity with credit approval frameworks, risk-rating systems, portfolio reviews, watchlist management, stress testing, covenant monitoring, restructurings, workouts, defaults, and recovery planning.
Understanding of passenger-to-freighter conversion programs, freighter demand, engine economics, maintenance exposure, redelivery obligations, residual value risk, and aircraft lifecycle management.
Experience working with Commercial, Technical, Finance, Legal, Treasury, Investment, Audit, lenders, and executive leadership in aviation or asset-backed finance environments.
Demonstrated ability to manage analytical workstreams, improve risk processes, develop reporting tools, and support disciplined governance across multiple markets, customers, and asset types.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Aviation, or a related field.
Relevant credit training, CFA progress, or equivalent industry experience is preferred.
Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, credit analysis, portfolio analytics, and Microsoft Excel is preferred.

Responsibilities

Support the execution of credit underwriting, portfolio risk, and enterprise risk activities.
Help establish and maintain clear credit standards, approval processes, reporting requirements, and accountability expectations.
Provide analysis and recommendations that support disciplined credit and risk decisions.
Conduct comprehensive credit analysis of airlines, cargo operators, ACMI providers, non-airline counterparties, and other lessees.
Evaluate transactions involving aircraft and engine leases, sale-leasebacks, acquisitions, trading activities, and restructurings.
Assess counterparty financial strength, transaction structure, collateral, exposure, and downside risk.
Prepare credit analysis and recommendations for internal approval processes.
Monitor lessee financial performance, payment behavior, covenant compliance, and other credit indicators.
Evaluate market conditions, country and jurisdictional risk, concentration exposure, asset liquidity, and emerging risks.
Identify and escalate early warning indicators and deteriorating credit conditions.
Support ongoing portfolio surveillance and risk reviews.
Support the development and maintenance of credit policies, risk-rating methodologies, delegated authorities, and approval frameworks.
Prepare materials for investment and credit committees.
Ensure credit and risk practices remain aligned with business growth strategies, return objectives, and established risk tolerance.
Promote consistent application of credit standards and approval requirements.
Partner with Commercial, Technical, Finance, and Asset Management teams to evaluate aircraft and engine marketability and liquidity.
Assess maintenance exposure, return and redelivery requirements, conversion economics, and residual value sensitivity.
Evaluate downside recovery scenarios and potential collateral outcomes.
Incorporate asset-specific risks into transaction and portfolio recommendations.
Support risk assessment and exposure analysis for distressed lessees and counterparties.
Assist with defaults, lease restructurings, repossessions, settlements, and recovery planning.
Evaluate collateral protection and potential recovery outcomes.
Provide analytical support for negotiations and resolution strategies.
Prepare risk dashboards, portfolio reviews, stress testing, and scenario analyses.
Develop watchlist reporting and counterparty exposure summaries.
Prepare executive-level risk reporting for company and parent-company leadership.
Identify trends, emerging risks, and portfolio issues requiring management attention.
Work collaboratively with Commercial, Technical, Finance, Legal, Treasury, Asset Management, Investment, and other stakeholders.
Ensure transaction decisions are supported by clear, accurate, and well-documented risk analysis.
Communicate credit considerations and risk recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Constructively challenge assumptions when appropriate while maintaining strong business relationships.
Support the development and improvement of credit and risk processes.
Develop and enhance analytical templates, reporting tools, and risk-management resources.
Contribute to team capabilities in credit analysis, airline financial assessment, portfolio surveillance, transaction structuring, and risk reporting.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and governance within the credit and risk function.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
