The Call Center Associate - Part Time Evenings will process room service meal orders, take phone calls for patient food and beverage requests, and assist patients with telephone call backs as needed to ensure the opportunity to order a meal. This role also involves assisting patients at the bedside in selecting menus if needed according to their prescribed diet order, and modifying patient food and beverage choices applying age-specific knowledge as appropriate. The associate will utilize room service software to correct meal selections in accordance with prescribed diet orders and accommodate all patient preferences/tolerances. Adherence to scripting and promotion of positive guest relations are key, as is the ability to resolve customer concerns in a positive manner and exhibit courtesy in all phone conversations. Competency in all CBORD programs utilized during normal operation of the call center is required, as is accurate processing of messages received through the hospital computer system. The role involves running reports and manually entering allergy information into CBORD when necessary, as well as entering tube feeding and supplement orders and manually discontinuing tube feeding orders. Monitoring room service software function and notifying supervisors or IT of any malfunctions is crucial. The associate will also monitor and assemble/check patient meal trays before delivery and serve them using department scripting. Adherence to computer downtime policies and procedures is necessary, including manual entry of admits, transfers, discharges, diet orders, and cancellations in CBORD when the hospital system is down. Effective communication within and outside the department is essential, utilizing telephone, fax, and/or radio as needed. Specific communication tasks include contacting nursing units to inform them when a patient on insulin has ordered their tray. Adherence to SPUH and Department policies/procedures regarding dress code, personal hygiene, food and beverage consumption, and gum chewing is required. The role includes completing and documenting patient calorie counts in CBORD electronically and entering calorie count notifications. Competency in the area of responsibility, attendance at in-services/meetings, and completion of annual patient education tools are expected. The associate will perform additional tasks and assigned duties, provide a flexible work schedule, and actively participate in training and orientation of new hires.
