The Calibration Technician is an entry-level position requiring education in electronics/calibration or at least one year of calibration experience. Technicians at this level typically calibrate low-end process instrumentation in up to three disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Dimensional, or Pressure). Proficiency is determined by Transcat’s technician skills progression matrix.

Requirements

  • Associates degree from college or technical school; or at least one (1) year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successful completion of assigned training materials through on-the-job training, online content, LMS, and classroom led instruction.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated learner with the ability to learn new skills related to calibration and calibration processes.
  • Ability to take direction and learn from feedback.
  • Ability to communicate well with supervisor, solve problems effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • 3+ years driving experience with a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience or training in electronics or machining.
  • Basic mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and statistics.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office computer software including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics.

Responsibilities

  • Learn fundamental calibration skills and techniques.
  • Develop skills necessary to perform calibrations independently.
  • Develop skills necessary to advance to Calibration Technician II position, which includes a working knowledge and competency in at least four disciplines and expert competency in one discipline.
  • Deliver on Transcat’s Quality Policy (QAC-F01-001).
  • Work with other technicians within the lab to learn calibration fundamentals, which can include measurement, temperature, electronics, etc.
  • Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques.
  • Maintain calibration standards.
  • Perform calibration work within a laboratory setting and/or while supervised at a customer on-site.
  • Fulfill duties safely under working conditions, in keeping with Company requirements and standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
