About The Position

The Calibration Technician II – Asset Control supports the daily operation of the calibration and asset-control program under the direction of the Asset Management Coordinator. This internal customer-facing position supports production personnel, equipment users, Calibration Coordinators, Calibration Owners, and Quality personnel by receiving, identifying, tracking, storing, shipping, and releasing monitoring and measuring equipment submitted for calibration or verification. The position also maintains storeroom inventory and asset records and performs initial reviews of calibration certificates.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in one or more of the following: Manufacturing, Logistics, Warehouse or storeroom operations, Quality, Technical support, Tool or asset control.
  • Familiarity with common measurement tools, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and torque tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate data and records.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including data entry, email, electronic document management, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 35-50 pounds, using assistance or material-handling equipment for heavier items.
  • Ability to access systems with information restricted to U.S. citizens per federal contract requirements is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree, technical certificate, military technical training, or equivalent education or experience in metrology, quality, manufacturing, logistics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience supporting calibration, metrology, asset tracking, tool control, or quality-management processes.
  • Experience using ERP, CMMS, inventory, calibration-management, or asset-tracking software.
  • Experience using GAGEpack or similar calibration-management software.
  • Ability to read basic technical specifications, calibration certificates, equipment manuals, and controlled quality records.
  • Experience with shipping, receiving, inventory control, or controlled storeroom operations.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, or another regulated quality-management system.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or another regulated industry.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures equipment is protected, properly identified, and accurately documented throughout the calibration process.
  • Provides professional customer support to personnel dropping off or retrieving equipment for calibration or verification.
  • Receives equipment and verifies its identification, physical condition, calibration status, requested service, and accompanying accessories.
  • Maintains equipment accountability and chain of custody throughout the calibration process.
  • Enters and updates equipment identification, location, status, due dates, and service history in GAGEpack or the current calibration and asset-management system.
  • Supports maintenance of the Master Equipment List and calibration recall system.
  • Releases equipment to production or authorized personnel only after confirming: Calibration or verification is complete, Required documentation and approvals are present, Asset records and calibration status have been updated, Equipment identification, calibration label, and due date are correct.
  • Withholds equipment from release and escalates issues when its status, documentation, or approval is incomplete or unclear.
  • Performs initial calibration certificate reviews under the direction of the Asset Management Coordinator, including checks of: Equipment identification, Calibration and due dates, Calibration results and acceptance status, Measurement traceability, Laboratory accreditation information, Required signatures or approvals.
  • Identifies and escalates incomplete, inconsistent, or questionable calibration certificates.
  • Uploads or associates approved calibration certificates and supporting records with the correct equipment record.
  • Maintains an organized and controlled calibration storeroom.
  • Receives, identifies, stores, stages, and issues equipment according to its current status.
  • Segregates equipment that is awaiting calibration, ready for release, overdue, damaged, out of tolerance, or on hold.
  • Conducts inventory cycle counts, reconciles discrepancies, and assists with physical inventories.
  • Assists with researching missing or Cannot Locate (CNL) equipment.
  • Prepares equipment and related documentation for shipment to approved external calibration providers.
  • Receives returned equipment, inspects it for shipping damage, and reconciles equipment and accessories against shipping records.
  • Protects equipment from damage, contamination, loss, environmental exposure, and unauthorized use or adjustment.
  • Immediately segregates and identifies overdue, damaged, or suspected out-of-tolerance equipment and notifies the appropriate personnel.
  • Provides available records and equipment history to support out-of-tolerance investigations.
  • Maintains accurate calibration, inventory, shipping, receiving, and asset-control records.
  • Supports calibration recalls, audits, records requests, program metrics, and continuous-improvement activities.
  • Follows applicable calibration procedures, work instructions, quality requirements, safety requirements, and records-retention requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
