About The Position

The Calibration Technician II supports the accuracy, reliability, traceability, and availability of measurement and test equipment used in Pacific Scientific EMC’s manufacturing, test, and production operations. The technician performs routine and moderately complex electronic, physical, and dimensional calibration activities according to established procedures and applicable quality standards, including ISO/IEC 17025 principles and NIST traceability requirements. The role combines hands-on calibration work with equipment-record maintenance, coordination of externally calibrated tooling, tracking overdue and missing items, and practical improvements to calibration workflow and equipment availability. Work is performed in the tool room and in production/test areas, with duties expected to be approximately 60% in the calibration tool room and 40% in production/test areas. The position is 100% on-site in Chandler, Arizona, with no routine travel anticipated. The regular schedule is Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; voluntary Friday or Saturday overtime may be available based on business needs. Due to U.S. Government contract requirements applicable to the position, only U.S. citizens are eligible for employment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 4–7 years of relevant calibration, metrology, or test-equipment experience; or an associate degree in engineering technology or a related technical field with 3–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic calibration, particularly multimeters, and working familiarity with physical and dimensional measurement methods.
  • Knowledge of calibration principles, electrical and physical measurement fundamentals, equipment tolerances, and traceability requirements.
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 principles or equivalent calibration quality practices; ability to follow documented procedures and maintain accurate calibration records.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals, specifications, and calibration instructions and troubleshoot equipment that fails calibration.
  • Ability to use calibration tracking/documentation systems or learn a new system; working proficiency with common computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, communication, and time-management skills; ability to work independently and collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams.
  • U.S. citizenship, due to U.S. Government contract requirements applicable to the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Fluke MET/TEAM or comparable calibration management software, such as IndySoft, MET/TRACK, or MET/CAL; prior MET/TEAM experience is not required.
  • Experience with temperature/humidity instrumentation, mass/weights, comparators, and a broad mix of electronic and dimensional equipment.
  • Background in aerospace, defense, electronics manufacturing, industrial metrology, automotive manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or another regulated production environment.
  • Experience coordinating outsourced calibrations, equipment inventory, calibration certificates, and overdue-tool recovery.
  • Familiarity with measurement uncertainty calculations, continuous improvement methods, Lean/Six Sigma principles, or process organization.
  • Familiarity with component-level electronic troubleshooting or minor repair activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration, verification, inspection, and certification of electronic, physical, and dimensional measurement and test equipment using established procedures, standards, and specifications.
  • Calibrate and evaluate equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, timers, temperature/humidity instruments, pressure measurement devices, dimensional tools, and mass/weight measurement equipment, as applicable to site needs.
  • Perform calibration work in the tool room and in production/test areas, supporting production teams with timely access to calibrated, serviceable tooling.
  • Identify out-of-tolerance conditions; troubleshoot measurement discrepancies using equipment manuals, technical drawings, procedures, and appropriate reference standards; perform minor repairs when qualified.
  • Apply and, as needed, calculate measurement uncertainty using established tools and methods; maintain calibration traceability and complete accurate records and certificates.
  • Use the calibration management system to maintain equipment identification, status, location, history, issuance, due dates, and calibration documentation.
  • Coordinate shipment, receipt, inspection, and tracking of equipment sent to external calibration vendors; verify returned documentation and update system records.
  • Identify and help resolve overdue, missing, damaged, or out-of-service equipment; prioritize workloads and support reduction of calibration backlogs and related quality nonconformities.
  • Partner with production, quality, technical leads, and external providers to communicate equipment availability, calibration needs, and turnaround expectations.
  • Support continuous improvement of tool-room organization, equipment tracking, workflow visibility, calibration processes, and inventory accuracy.
  • Follow applicable safety, quality, documentation, and government-contract requirements while completing work with appropriate independence and accountability.
