About The Position

The KBR Metrology team supports Honeywell Aerospace, Otto Instruments, Garrett Advanced Motion, and their suppliers by offering services such as onsite/offsite laboratory visits, test equipment calibration and repair, AMS2750 pyrometry services, metrology engineering, and equipment inspection. Our team ensures that the equipment is maintained to high standards through preventative maintenance, calibration recall system management, automation and programming, and performance tracking dashboards. Metrology calibration technician I, is responsible for taking care of the day-to-day escalations and priority requests regarding calibration. Technicians will be required to perform the calibrations in-lab or on-site using accredited standards. Calibrations will be performed without automation and require fluency in calibration procedures and hands-on experience with setting up test equipment. This role will report to the lead technician and lab manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma with 2+ years of experience in the field, OR associate’s degree in engineering technology or a relevant field with 1 year of experience.
  • Working knowledge of current, voltage, and resistance, AC/DC equipment calibration.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software, including Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with IndySoft, Fluke Met/Team, Fluke Met/Track, and Met/Cal systems.
  • Familiarity with laboratory measurement and calibration equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration and certification of electronic and physical/dimensional measuring and test equipment according to technical specifications, ensuring traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
  • Calibrate and repair equipment such as pressure devices, timers, ESD mats, ESD wrist straps, ESD workstations, scales, and weights.
  • Calibrate standards used in calibrations and maintain equipment to established performance standards.
  • Generate reports on the conditions of electronic or instrumentation systems, repairs, and preventive maintenance performed, and prepare necessary documentation as required by federal and departmental regulations.
  • Perform complex configuration and testing of equipment following instructions, blueprints, schematic sketches, and prescribed testing procedures.
  • Utilize common laboratory measuring, calibrating, and test equipment.
  • Adapt procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment to meet special needs as required.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.
