About The Position

We are seeking motivated candidates for a Battery State Estimation Calibration Engineer position in GM's Battery System Controls Calibration group at the Milford Proving Ground. The position involves significant in-vehicle and lab work, along with related analytical and performance verification activities. Calibration engineers engage in cross-functional teams, are expected to handle multiple projects/priorities, and frequently need to balance planned and unplanned work. A typical week includes in-vehicle calibration & testing, lab/bench/analytical activities, and collaboration with algorithm/software and hardware engineers. Calibration engineers participate in offsite development trips as well as onsite program team vehicle evaluations. In GM’s Battery System Controls group, calibration engineers at the Milford Proving Ground are located in a unique facility dedicated to hybrid/EV development. In addition, the role will require occasional travel to other GM sites, test facilities, plants, or joint‑venture locations, including up to one or two days a week at the GM Battery System Lab in Warren, MI. The successful candidate will join the Battery System Controls Calibration Team and be responsible for Battery State Estimation (BSE) Calibration or other features on GM vehicles. They will deliver calibrations that ensure feature/diagnostic functionality and robustness, utilizing system hardware/software troubleshooting skills to resolve issues and complete their calibration standard work. Candidates will analyze large sets of data collected during various test cases (in simulation, lab, and vehicle), tune the system response through calibration and identify areas requiring a change in controls.
