About The Position

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Calendar Specialist based in any of our West Coast offices (Los Angeles; Menlo Park; Orange County; Sacramento; San Francisco; Santa Monica; Seattle or Portland) to work with a team of dedicated professionals. Under the supervision of the Director of the West Coast Calendar Department and the West Coast Managing Attorney, the Calendar Specialist will primarily be responsible for calculating procedural deadlines and entering data into the firm’s calendaring software, as well as providing litigation related support to case teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of two years prior similar related experience.
  • Exceptional accuracy and thoroughness in calendaring and data entry, with a focus on risk management.
  • Tech-savvy and able to quickly learn new software and technology platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage a high-volume workload.
  • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to meet competing deadlines.
  • Proactive problem-solver who takes ownership of tasks and follows through.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.
  • Possess strong customer service skills and works well within a team.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of California civil court procedure and rules (state superior, appellate, and federal), preferred.
  • Proficiency with Aderant-Compulaw, CourtAlert or compatible database, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Calendar litigation events in the firm’s calendaring software based on review of court notifications, court rules, and attorney communications.
  • Run reports in calendaring software.
  • Respond to questions from attorneys, paralegals and assistants regarding court calendaring, procedure and compliance with court rules.
  • Perform research on court rules, procedure, and case histories, as needed.
  • Act as liaison between attorneys and court personnel.
