About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining and developing cake decorating skills and talents, staying updated on new trends. The position involves understanding basic bakery terms and processes, assisting with ingredient and supply orders, maintaining inventory, and merchandising bakery items. Key responsibilities include taking orders for larger tier cakes, producing them, and managing associated accessories. The decorator will also assist in receiving and storing bakery products and may be directed to produce other bakery items.

Requirements

Ability to perform each essential duty with accuracy and maintain a high level of productivity.
Knowledge of basic bakery terms and processes (e.g., fermentation, bench time, proofing, effects of temperature variations).
Knowledge of pricing, dating, and wrapping or bagging of all bakery products.
Knowledge of bakery items, descriptions, and ingredients.
Ability to take orders for larger tier cake orders, produce the cakes, and ensure final accounting of accessories.
Ability to maintain an adequate inventory of novelties and supplies for cake decoration.
Ability to assist in the receiving and storing of bakery products.
Ability to produce other bakery items as directed.

Responsibilities

Maintain and develop cake decorating skills and talents, seeking updated information on new trends.
Possess knowledge of basic bakery terms and processes.
Assist in making orders for bakery ingredients and supplies and maintain inventory levels.
Fill, rotate, arrange, and merchandise displays and display cases.
Understand pricing, dating, and wrapping/bagging of all bakery products.
Know bakery items, descriptions, and ingredients to serve guests and answer questions.
Complete processing of larger tier cake orders, including taking orders, producing cakes, and accounting for accessories.
Maintain an adequate inventory of novelties and supplies for cake decoration.
Assist in the receiving and storing of bakery products.
Produce other bakery items as directed by the Bakery Merchant.
Exhibit and develop maximum customer relations through friendly and courteous behavior.
Promote high morale within the department and store through honest and open communication.
Work together effectively within the team.
Comply with all company policies, programs, and directives.
