About The Position

A Part-Time (PT) Cake Decorator / Closer for bakery at Giant Food prepares, frosts, and decorates bakery items while providing customer service and maintaining strict cleanliness standards.

Requirements

• 1 to 3 years of experience in retail, food preparation, or a bake-off department (technical training or 1 year preferred).
• Strong communication, attention to detail, and a commitment to customer service.
• Flexibility to work a retail schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings (minimum 4-hour shifts typical).
• Ability to stand for long periods, walk/stand for up to 55% of the shift, and lift or carry up to 25–50 lbs.
• Must be available on weekends.
• Must be available for closing shift 1pm-9pm

Responsibilities

• Mix, color, and apply frosting, fill and load decorating cones, and frost and decorate cakes and baked goods.
• Take custom cake orders, complete requests, and assist customers in the bakery department.
• Store orders properly in the bakery cooler, track and record loss, and prepare daily baked goods.
• Clean and sanitize all work areas, counters, floors, display cases, and baking tools following food safety guidelines.
