Cake Decorator
About The Position

That's WEIS! This role is responsible for keeping the bakery department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. The associate will smile and greet customers, make suggestions, answer questions about various products and preparation of cakes, and help resolve customer concerns in a prompt and courteous manner. Orders can be taken over the phone or in person. The decorator determines what the customer is looking for in terms of size, flavor and appearance, and creates the finished decorated product in a timely fashion. This includes decorating cakes and other bakery products using dye, specific designs or by creating custom designs, and using a variety of creams, frostings and fillings with consistent outcome. The associate will also make icing for cakes and other related products, adhere to company approved recipes, trim and cut cakes to required shape and size, spread icing between layers and on cake surface, and tint white icing to required colors. Additional duties include assisting in filling and merchandising the bakery sales area while adhering to production logs, creating cakes, pastries, etc. for sale in the service case, following rotation and mark down policies to ensure quality and freshness, and helping maintain inventory levels with proper ordering and proper production logging. The role may also involve assisting with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries through operation of power jack or hand jack if properly trained, and assisting with baling cardboard or other related duties if properly trained. The associate is responsible for general sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements, and disposing of trash properly. Ensuring smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors and continuously improving job performance are also key responsibilities. The associate is responsible for the utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to cut resistant gloves, safety cutters, company sponsored footwear, etc. The associate may also be called upon to assist in other departments.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- 1-2 years’ experience in decorating.
