About The Position
Zingerman's Bakehouse is hiring an Experienced Cake Decorator to work on our team making hand-crafted cakes, cupcakes, and cookies to be enjoyed on occasions of all shapes and sizes. This role is for someone passionate about cake decorating as a long-term career, looking for a place to be themselves and do good work on a team. Requirements
- Availability for 40 hours a week during the hours of 6 AM and 4 PM, typically Tuesday-Saturday.
- Willingness to accommodate occasional deviations in schedule (e.g., delivering a cake on Sunday).
- Limited time off during the wedding season (April through September).
- Cake decorating experience is required.
- Passion for cake decorating as a long-term career.
- Ability to stand, lift, and bend for up to 8 hours, with breaks.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Ability to work with repetitive motion including fine manipulation of hands and fingers.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and ice undecorated cakes, including both custom and standard.
- Pipe decorations and inscriptions onto cakes and cookies.
- Prepare and deliver custom cake orders.
- Package cake and cake slices.
- Fill and top cupcakes.
- Mix buttercreams.
- Create 3D decorations out of fondant.
- Sort orders.
