About The Position

Macey's is seeking a full-time Cake Decorator to join their team. This role requires maintaining and developing cake decorating skills, staying updated on new trends, and possessing knowledge of basic bakery terms and processes. The individual will also be responsible for managing inventory, merchandising displays, and handling customer orders, including larger tier cake orders. This position emphasizes customer relations, teamwork, and adherence to company policies.

Requirements

Ability to perform each essential duty with accuracy and maintain a high level of productivity.
Knowledge of basic bakery terms and processes such as fermentation, bench time, proofing and effects of temperature variations on bakery items.
Knowledge of pricing, dating, and wrapping or bagging of all bakery products.
Knowledge of bakery items, descriptions, and ingredients.
Ability to take orders, produce cakes, and ensure final accounting for larger tier cake orders.
Ability to maintain an adequate inventory of all novelties and supplies necessary for cake decoration.
Ability to assist in the receiving and storing of bakery products.
Ability to produce other bakery items as directed.

Responsibilities

Maintain and develop cake decorating skills and talents.
Seek updated information regarding required decorating skills and new trends.
Possess knowledge of basic bakery terms and processes.
Assist in making orders for bakery ingredients and supplies and maintain inventory levels.
Fill, rotate, arrange, and merchandise displays and display cases.
Possess knowledge of pricing, dating, and wrapping or bagging of all bakery products.
Possess knowledge of bakery items, descriptions, and ingredients to serve guests and answer questions.
Responsible for the complete processing of larger tier cake orders, including taking orders, producing cakes, and ensuring final accounting of accessories for deposit refunds.
Maintain an adequate inventory of all novelties and supplies necessary for cake decoration.
Assist in the receiving and storing of bakery products.
Produce other bakery items as directed by the Bakery Merchant.
Exhibit and develop maximum customer relations through friendly and courteous behavior.
Promote a high level of morale within the department and store.
Comply with all company policies, programs, and directives.
