About The Position

Join our Festival Foods team as a Cake Decorator! At Festival Foods, our Cake Decorators bring artistry and imagination to life, creating beautiful and uniquely decorated bakery items that leave lasting impressions on our guests. As a Cake Decorator II, you’ll utilize your creative talents to craft stunning desserts for special occasions, ensuring that each product meets the highest standards of quality and guest satisfaction. Our bakery plays a pivotal role in crafting unforgettable experiences for guests' events and everyday moments alike, ranging from special occasions to everyday indulgences.

Requirements

  • A strong artistic sense and the ability to create visually appealing and creative bakery items.
  • Ability to interact effectively with guests and understand their needs.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure products are decorated beautifully and meet quality standards.
  • Standing for extended periods of time (80% of the time).
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis (30% of the time).
  • Frequently near moving machinery (60% of the time).
  • Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures (20% of the time).
  • Repetitive motion of hands and wrists (90% of the time).

Responsibilities

  • Providing excellent guest service, including greetings, answering questions, and addressing concerns professionally and with care.
  • Topping, finishing, and decorating a variety of bakery products such as bars, pies, cookies, doughnuts, cupcakes, and cakes.
  • Creating visually appealing and attractive bakery items to drive sales.
  • Delivering beautiful, creative, and uniquely decorated special orders that align with guest requests.
  • Minimizing waste by reducing mistakes and using appropriate quantities of icing and supplies.
  • Filling, rotating, and removing decorated products from the sales floor and service case.
  • Planning production tasks to ensure an adequate supply of back stock for replenishment.
  • Maintaining product freshness by rotating stock, selling closer-dated products first, and removing outdated items.
  • Assisting guests with finding items, taking orders for cakes and special requests, and collaborating to create their vision.
  • Answering phone calls with proper etiquette and providing necessary information or assistance.
  • Reinforcing Festival culture, guest service, and performance expectations within the department and supporting the team.
  • Maintaining adequate levels of supplies in the cake decorating area, replenishing packaging, icing, and decorative accents.
  • Assisting other areas of the bakery department as needed.
  • Contributing to the overall cleanliness of the department by organizing and cleaning work areas, shelving, and the sales floor.
  • Maintaining food safety logs and ensuring all quality standards are met.
  • Maintaining regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule and providing adequate notice for absences.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
