About The Position

The position is responsible for preparing and serving food and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment under the Title VI Elders program.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six months experience of cooking and food preparation in a restaurant or cafeteria setting
  • SERV Safe Food Handler certification or must obtain within 90 days of employment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other departments
  • Commitment to confidentiality
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License throughout employment and being insurable under the Tribe’s insurance policy

Responsibilities

  • Prepares food items according to recipes and established food preparation procedures.
  • Serves appropriate amount of food following guidelines established to meet the nutritional needs of the Elders.
  • Evaluates food for taste, appearance, and temperature.
  • Performs set up and tear down of food and beverage stations.
  • Provides friendly and professional customer service to customers, service departments, vendors, and outside agencies.
  • Assists with inventories of food and supplies, informing supervisor of needs to ensure availability.
  • Receives food items and supplies, stocking and organizing in designated areas with attention to proper rotation and storage guidelines.
  • Cleans kitchen, equipment, serving dishes and utensils, and dining area; continually monitors throughout food service.
  • Collaboratively plan with program coordinator the classes to be presented for Post Covid Environment – Preparedness, Safety Protocols, and other dealing with food safety/nutrition/cooking.
  • Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of work.
  • All other position/department related duties as assigned by supervisor.
