About The Position

The Cafeteria Worker (part-time) assists with preparing food for breakfast and lunches and cleaning up after food services. This role supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff. It requires maintaining absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information, and following Governing Board Policies.

Requirements

  • Some previous food industry experience preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Maricopa County Food Handler's Card at the time of hire.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with food safety regulations and standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.
  • Commitment to create and sustain a thriving learning and working environment for students and staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to use initiative within organizational policies, procedures and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares items for breakfast and lunch services.
  • Assists with cooking menu items for meals.
  • Wraps and pre-plates appropriate food items.
  • Records food, refrigerator, and freezer temperatures.
  • Sets-up steam tables; organizes food service lines, milk station, and snack bar.
  • Checks student ID's for lunches.
  • Works as a cashier at the snack bar as needed.
  • Records the snack bar product inventory after lunch service.
  • Cleans and sanitizes lunch tables, dishes, utensils, and work surfaces.
  • Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Assists with the restocking of food items and supplies, and preparing inventory of leftovers.
