About The Position

Eagle Valley Middle School Nutritional Services is seeking a Cafeteria Manager to organize and plan daily production of the designated lunch program. This role ensures compliance with all state regulations for the National School Lunch Program, sanitation, and safety, while supervising the day-to-day operations of cafeteria staff. The Cafeteria Manager will also participate in food preparation, standardize recipes, and operate a computer for various food service functions including updating student records, cashiering, and generating reports.

Requirements

  • ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • Ability to read, write, understand and follow written and verbal instructions (high school diploma/GED equivalent).
  • Ability to calculate basic mathematical equations.
  • Ability to operate computer-cashiering system and maintain accurate student data via computer.
  • 2 years of experience in quantity food production and preparation.
  • 6 months supervisory experience.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Time-management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to delegate tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise school lunch program and train food service staff at assigned school.
  • Assist in recruiting, disciplining and evaluating food service staff at assigned school.
  • Plan daily production schedule for the school lunch program to ensure quality meals are served consistently, without excess waste or insufficient production.
  • Participate in the preparation of food for the school lunch program, utilizing resources effectively.
  • Delegate work to staff to ensure food is served in a timely and friendly manner.
  • Standardize recipes for proper serving size and compliance with the National School Lunch Program.
  • Make suggestions for recipe modification and improvement, and for increasing student participation.
  • Regulate portions consistent with National School Lunch Program standards.
  • Operate a computer for food service functions: updating and maintaining student status records, cashiering for point-of-sale transactions, updating student account data, and producing operational reports.
  • Complete menu worksheets and biweekly inventory for stock.
  • Prepare food orders for the school lunch program.
  • Deposit daily revenue and submit reports.
  • Lift and carry boxes to appropriate shelves when orders arrive.
  • Maintain high standards of sanitation in all work practices, including food handling and storage.
  • Ensure food is served at the proper temperature for food safety.
  • Maintain a healthy and attractive kitchen and lunch room environment.
  • Operate and supervise the cleaning and maintenance of all kitchen equipment.
  • Report equipment problems to the Operations Manager.
  • Be friendly and tactful to all customers in all communication situations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
