About The Position

Responsibility to be able to work with the School Cafeteria Manager. This position is based on a 192-day work year. The primary function involves assisting the School Manager with various cafeteria operations, including food purchasing, preparation, service, and sanitation. The role also requires accurate record-keeping and inventory management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, ServSafe certification or the ability to obtain within a short period of time.
  • One to five years' experience in food service, or closely related field, with experience or training in institutional cooking.
  • Full knowledge of National School Breakfast and Lunch guidelines and requirements, food preparation methods and operation of food service equipment preferred.
  • Overall knowledge of all Kitchen duties.
  • Complete knowledge of all kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other employees, school staff, students and general public.
  • Possess the ability to work effectively with students and staff.
  • Must be able to stand at an assigned location and work continuously for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to carry, move and put away food and supplies weighing up to forty (40) lbs. and ranging in height from 1" to 48" from the floor.
  • Must have the stamina necessary for efficient performance of duties.
  • Must be physically able to tolerate temperatures ranging from -10 degrees F to 40 degrees F for periods of time up to one half hour to work in the freezer.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the School Manager with the development of standards, methods, and procedures for the purchasing, receiving, storage and distribution of food, supplies, and equipment, food preparation, meal services, sanitation procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with approved food preparation and service procedures, including use of standardized recipes, portion control, presentation and quality of food.
  • Forecasts food and material required for the daily operations of the cafeteria.
  • Assist with preparation and serving of daily meals.
  • Responsible for accurate preparation and timely completion of all required reports and records. This includes, daily production records, inventories and ordering.
  • Assists in washing dishes, pots/pans, equipment and tables.
  • Responsible to maintain, receive and store inventory and inform staff of any necessary changes to menus as needed.
