About The Position

At our East Ninth Street Clubhouse, you’ll have the opportunity to create healthy, tasty meals for community youth, inspired by GREAT values: Generosity, Respect, Encouragement, Accountability, and Trustworthiness. Boys & Girls Club is committed to practicing those values to create a community organization where you can be sure you’re making a difference. We are looking for full-time applicants available from 7am to 4pm, Monday through Friday. This role also includes some evenings and weekends throughout the year.

Requirements

  • minimum of one year of professional kitchen/restaurant experience
  • skillset to read and follow recipes, including common culinary terms and conversions
  • ServSafe Food Handler Certificate
  • ServSafe Manager Certificate or the ability to obtain the Manager Certificate within 90 days
  • over the age of 21
  • valid driver license
  • clean driving record
  • provide references (professional references from previous work experience)
  • complete a drug screen (which only includes drugs illegal in the state of Nevada)
  • background check
  • fingerprint check

Responsibilities

  • preparing nutritional meals and snacks for youth members
  • monitoring inventory, and manual stocking and rotating of dry, freezer, and refrigerator storage
  • monitoring quality of prepared food
  • providing direction to entry-level cooks, members, and volunteers as needed
  • Perform basic and advanced kitchen math, including adjusting quantities and measurement conversions.
  • Follow all guidelines and requirements for grant-funded food service
  • Wash, chop, and sort ingredients.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, including washing dishes, utensils, and cookware; sanitizing equipment and floors/areas; and trash removal.
  • Encourage and motivate all staff and youth.
  • Maintain the safety of our children and staff, and ensure an optimal experience for all.
