About The Position

In charge of preparation, transport, and service of food and beverage items in the employee cafeteria ensuring a high level of quality and consistency. Oversees sanitation and cleanliness standards in the cafeteria and food prep areas that meet the state and local Health Board inspection and hotel requirements. Working together with the Cafeteria Attendant. Requirements

  • Basic reading, writing and math skills, and prior food preparation experience.
  • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Standing up and moving about the kitchen and cafeteria
  • Handling food, objects, products and utensils
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling
  • Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with the other attendants, cooks, employees, or supervisors.
  • Food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency.
  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when preparing cold food or batch items from a recipe
  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, measurements, quantities, and variances are used frequently.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare hot and cold food and batch items for lunch, dinner and overnight. Follow food preparation and usage instructions to minimize waste.
  • Transport prepared food from kitchen to cafeteria; set up all stations which may include soup, salad, beverage, bread, hot food buffet, etc. Replenish stations as needed throughout shift.
  • Perform associated opening, closing and prep work duties.
  • Maintain a clean, neat and well-organized work area, including but not limited to reach-ins, walk-ins and counters. Report all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment, safety hazards, or maintenance problems to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
