About The Position

The Cafeteria Cook supports the daily operation of the school cafeteria through food preparation, meal service, sanitation, and kitchen support. This position helps ensure meals are prepared and served in a safe, efficient, and consistent manner while maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and hospitality. The Cafeteria Cook works closely with the Kitchen Manager and cafeteria team to provide a positive dining experience for students, staff, and families. It is desirable that church employees regularly attend worship services (virtually or physically). By doing so, they will be more in touch with Village Baptist Church’s life, activities, and patterns.

Requirements

  • Minimum educational requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • ServSafe Certification required or willingness to obtain and maintain certification upon hire
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and serving practices
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team
  • Must successfully pass all required background screenings for employment in a school setting
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to work in a kitchen environment, including heat, noise, and frequent movement
  • Vision

  • Experience in food service, commercial kitchen operations, cafeteria service, or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily food preparation, cooking, and meal assembly
  • Help ensure meals are prepared and ready for service according to established schedules
  • Serve food to students, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards at all times
  • Maintain clean, organized, and stocked workstations
  • Assist with setup, service, and cleanup of meal periods
  • Support portioning, packaging, and presentation of menu items
  • Work collaboratively with the Kitchen Manager and cafeteria staff to maintain efficient operations
  • Assist with inventory organization, stocking, and storage of food and supplies
  • Contribute to a positive and team-oriented work environment
  • Assist in other areas of the cafeteria, including food preparation, serving, stocking, dishwashing, and cleanup, as needed to support the team
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Director of Cafeteria Operations
