About The Position
The Cafeteria Aide will actively supervise students in the cafeteria during the lunchtime period, assisting with student transitions into and around the lunchroom. They will also help students in the orderly procurement of their lunches and supervise students while they are eating to ensure they are orderly, safe, and mannerly. The Aide will work with students to teach appropriate lunchroom etiquette, good manners, cleaning up after themselves, and encourage appropriate, positive intermingling of students. This role requires the ability to relate to children in a positive but firm manner, possess good interpersonal and communication skills with children and adults, work as a member of a team, and form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children. Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviors is also important.
Requirements
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Ability to lift 20-25 pounds.
- Ability to relate to children in a positive but firm manner
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with children and adults
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children
- Emotionally resilient in working with challenging behaviors
Responsibilities
- Actively supervise students in the cafeteria during the lunchtime period.

- Guide groups of students through the lunchroom.
- Guide students toward appropriate behavior while in the lunch line.
- Assist younger children in getting lunch trays, milk, and condiments.
- Help children in opening lunch items.
- Monitor student behavior and provide appropriate discipline as necessary within guidelines of school rules.
