About The Position

Hesston Bakery and Cafe is looking for full-time Cafe Team Members to join our team! The hours for this position are 11:00am - 7:30pm and 4:00pm - 7:30pm. Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Must be able to operate a computer and handle basic cash transactions
• Must have a positive attitude and provide great customer service
• Must enjoy working with the elderly and be able to understand their needs
• Must be able to speak and write English

Responsibilities

• Take orders
• Prepare menu items including soups, salads, sandwiches, and drinks while providing excellent customer service
• Cooks food and prepares drinks according to menus and recipes
• Understand and adhere to all recipes
• Remain alert to all team members and helps team out when needed
• Consult daily menus and prep sheets to determine which food will be cooked for the day
• Use all kitchen equipment appropriately
• Organizes food preparation
• Ensure that food and drinks are ready at the proper time and temperature
• Organize food and drinks to be served
• Follows Food Code standards for preparing, handling, serving and storing food
• Check and record temperatures of food to ensure that it is served at correct temperatures
• Cool food according to the Kansas Food Code
• Prepare, cook and store food under appropriate temperatures and with safe food handling techniques
• Cook food and prepare drinks in a manner to conserve nutritive value, flavor, appearance and texture
• Uses food and supplies appropriately to maintain budget
• Understand and follow food portion controls
• Avoid wasting food or supplies
• Clean in assigned areas
• Keep all kitchen equipment clean and in good working order
• Cleans and sanitizes food preparation areas
• Help wash dishes and put them away
• Complete cleaning schedules
• Use good sanitation practices
