About The Position

The Café Sales Associate is responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service, generating sales, and merchandising. This role involves assisting in daily coffee and food service operations, efficiently ringing up sales, and preparing items offered in the café. The associate will also prepare and deliver internal catering orders, model excellence in customer service and merchandising, and ensure sanitation and safety standards are met. Additionally, the role requires maintaining an attractive café space, assisting with inventory, and fostering positive relationships with staff, volunteers, and guests. The position also includes churchwide responsibilities such as following Jesus, supporting the church's purpose, and exemplifying its values.

Requirements

Proficient in email and word processing functions.
Must be able to physically lift, push, or pull up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to stand for up to 6-8 hours.

Nice To Haves

High School education preferred.
Experience in food and customer services and/or a coffee shop are preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in daily coffee and food service operations.
Efficiently ring up sales promptly and accurately in the store’s Point of Sale (POS) system.
Assist in receiving vendor products. This may include purchasing, physically picking up, and delivery items from local wholesale clubs and other vendors.
Efficiently prepare all items offered in the café while following established café procedures.
Prepare and ensure all internal catering orders are acknowledged, prepared, and delivered to the church’s ministries with excellent quality and on a timely basis. This may be during off-hours, as needed.
Model behavior with respect to excellence in customer service, selling skills, merchandising, loss prevention, housekeeping, and stock maintenance.
Ensure that requirements for appropriate sanitation and safety levels in respective area are met.
Maintain an attractive, inviting space which encourages congregants to fellowship and purchase quality products.
Help with periodic inventory of café supplies.
Maintain staff, volunteer, and guest relationships.
Other duties as assigned.

Support the church’s purpose of “building a Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people become deeply committed Christians.”
