About The Position

Responsible for providing a positive guest experience that exceeds expectations through effective and efficient retail operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic business administration and general knowledge of principles and practices of a retail environment preferred.
  • Micros System, computer knowledge and other office equipment knowledge preferred.
  • Experience in retail, customer service or sales environment preferred.
  • Possible heavy inventory workloads; exerting up to 40 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Maintain a high-energy level to be able to stand on your feet throughout the day on the retail/sales floor.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be able to approach all encounters with guests and team members in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary with patience and adaptability.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the issues raised by guests and associates.
  • Must be able to adapt to a broad range of customer interactions, inquiries, and complaints while maintaining a friendly and warm demeanor.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.
  • Ability to be a clear thinker, analyze and resolve problems exercising good judgment.
  • Make independent decisions while maintaining strong ethical standards consistent with company policy, rules and the ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to persuade guests to buy and provide up-selling opportunities.
  • Comply at all times with Kalahari Resort standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient resort operations.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers and ascertain their wants/needs.
  • Open and close Micros system.
  • Perform tasks such as counting money, separating charge slips, coupons, vouchers, balancing cash drawers, and making deposits.
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges and security practices.
  • Computer sales prices, total purchases and receive and process cash or credit payments and room charges.
  • Maintain records related to sales.
  • Watch for and recognize safety risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle these situations.
  • Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires, providing up-selling opportunities when appropriate.
  • Answer questions regarding the store, resort, and merchandise.
  • Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers.
  • Ticket, prepare, price, and maintain merchandise.
  • Clean shelves, counters, tables, and windows as needed.
  • Exchange merchandise for customers and accept returns.
  • Bag or package purchases.
  • Inventory stock and transfer new stock to stores.
  • Participate actively in taking monthly inventory.
  • Able to transfer product store-to-store or process damage out product (w/correct forms).
