About The Position

We’re excited to open a new café location within a Smithsonian Museum, and we’re looking for a Café Manager to help bring this concept to life. In this role, you’ll guide daily operations, support a welcoming guest experience, and lead a team that reflects our commitment to hospitality and learning. You’ll collaborate closely with museum partners and Restaurant Associates leadership to build a smooth, guest‑focused operation from day one.

Requirements

1–3 years of experience in food service or hospitality environments such as restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, healthcare, or military dining
Familiarity with cash handling and food service equipment
Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation procedures
Comfortable using Microsoft Office and other daily operational systems
ServSafe or Department of Health food safety certification

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting or opening new restaurants, cafés, or high‑volume food service concepts
A collaborative leadership approach with an interest in developing teams and shaping a welcoming environment

Responsibilities

Recruit, train, and coach café associates to support a positive, team‑first culture
Oversee day‑to‑day café operations, ensuring an engaging and efficient guest experience
Plan, market, and execute special events and café promotions
Maintain high standards for sanitation, safety, food quality, and cleanliness
Support responsible financial operations, working within budget and finding new ways to strengthen business performance
Ensure accurate cash handling procedures and equipment use
Collaborate with internal teams and museum stakeholders to support events and café needs
Contribute to opening processes and other responsibilities that support a successful new location
