About The Position

This position is responsible for presenting a courteous and positive guest service attitude. The server will take and fill guest food and beverage orders, ensuring quality and proper presentation in a timely manner. The role also involves promoting and exemplifying a culture of exceptional guest service, teamwork, innovation, and fun, while working well independently and with others. The server is expected to pitch in whenever and wherever assistance is needed, conduct themselves with a high level of professionalism, and value safety, community, and a healthy, sustainable environment. Ensuring guests and employees have a fun, safe, and memorable experience is key. The role encourages asking questions, sharing concerns, or giving ideas on innovation and efficiencies that improve both the guests’ and employees’ experience.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of over-the-counter retail sales
  • Comfortable in using point of sale systems
  • Ability to work independently, in a team environment, and with minimal supervision
  • Ability to make decisions, solve problems, and exercise good judgment
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload
  • Good organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willing to work extended hours, various shifts, on holidays and weekends as necessary
  • Must have a current Municipality of Anchorage food handler’s card or can have by time of hire
  • Must have a current TAP certification or can complete certification before start date
  • Pass a pre-employment background check
  • Be willing to work weekends, holidays and evenings
  • Ability to communicate with grill cooks/servers
  • Ability to read orders on tickets
  • Ability to judge the quality and quantity of raw and cooked items
  • Basic mathematical skills; ability to make change

Responsibilities

  • Providing exceptional guest service
  • Taking and filling guest food and beverage orders
  • Reading tickets, pulling products from the window in specified order, and calling side items
  • Coordinating and communicating with grill cooks, remaining cautious of lead ticket time
  • Making coffee drinks (lattes, etc.)
  • Filling beer and wine orders
  • Prepping food and completing the daily prep list
  • Handling cash
  • Sanitizing work areas before, during, and at the end of each shift
  • Ensuring all equipment is clean
  • Assisting with dishwashing if necessary
  • Interacting with guests in a friendly and fast manner, ensuring guests’ complete satisfaction and exceeding their expectations
  • Maintaining specific side-work and ensuring the total cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant
  • Stocking/restocking items on the line according to specifications
  • Checking identification of guests to ensure they are of legal age to consume alcoholic beverages; refusing to serve beverages politely to guests who are not of legal age
  • Observing guests’ behavior after consuming alcoholic beverages, counting drinks served, and asking a manager for help with disorderly customers as needed
  • Reporting to work in a neat and clean uniform; maintaining well-groomed hair and personal hygiene
  • Performing janitorial duties as assigned
