About The Position

Performs high-volume sales transactions while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the point of sale (cash registers) system, and provides exceptional customer service to all GMD Café patrons, staff and guests. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and able to take directions from a diverse team of leaders and co-workers. This is a winter seasonal position at a ski lodge, with average hours of 35 per week, available from Mid-November through Mid-April. The role involves providing food and beverage preparation, with a focus on specialty coffee drinks, and maintaining the cleanliness and stocking of the café. The position may require working extended hours during peak times, weekends, and holidays, and may involve rotating through different shifts and outlets within the lodge.

Requirements

  • Employee has legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • High school Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience working with a POS and cash handling required.
  • Must be 21 years old to serve alcohol.
  • Positive, outgoing personality along with excellent customer service skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Able to use basic math and accurately reconcile a cash register required.
  • Able to problem solve in a fast-paced environment required.
  • Able to work autonomously with minimal supervision required.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. required.
  • Ability to present a professional appearance required: well groomed & trimmed hair, clean uniform, no facial piercings.
  • Able to speak, read, write and communicate clearly in English required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous food and beverage experience preferred.
  • Certification in Utah S.M.A.R.T. Program and Food Handlers Permit preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Town of Alta and Alta Ski Resort helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service to all customers of the Café by greeting customers in a timely manner.
  • Performs sales transactions in MICROS system and ensures all orders and tickets are processed accurately (dispensing correct change, processing credit card payments, issuing receipts, all gift certificate and gift card functions, refunds and resolves amount discrepancies).
  • Correctly reconciles cash register at the end of each shift.
  • Answers general questions from patrons regarding the Café, Lodge, Ski Resort, etc. as necessary acting as an ambassador for the Lodge.
  • Provides food and beverage preparation (with concentration on specialty coffee drinks) and service.
  • Stocks and maintains all supplies, food items and utensils in Café.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the Café at all times and complies with standard food handling and sanitation procedures.
  • Maintains and complies with all Utah On-Premise Alcohol regulations.
  • Follows all Lodge safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Report all accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions to manager immediately.
  • Participates in weekly deep cleaning of the Café, including restocking all items, cleaning machines, washing windows, etc.
  • Attends and participates in all meetings and trainings as required.
  • Reports to Café, ready to work in clean uniform at the scheduled time.
  • Other duties as assigned.
