About The Position

Reporting to the School Principal, the Barista will serve as a welcoming presence at the school to all stakeholders who visit the coffee shop and front desk. This role supports the School Administration team and School Front Desk, contributing to the organization's mission and reflecting the school's priorities. The position also involves financial planning and management of the coffee shop and participation in fundraising activities as appropriate.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

  • Proficiency in modern business technology applications.

  • Annual training and/or professional development is required.
  • Job-specific training is identified and scheduled by the School Principal or direct supervisor in partnership with Paramount C-suite.
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.
  • Regularly handles extremely hot liquids and equipment.
  • Exposed to high frequency electrically operated equipment.
  • Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling.
  • Significant fine finger dexterity.
  • 40% sitting, 20% walking, and 40% standing.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer.
  • Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.
  • Ability to hear and understand speech, outdoors and on the telephone.
  • Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand on the telephone.
  • Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and to bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and delivers coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques.
  • Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply and stocking coffee brewing equipment and supplies.
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
  • Supports the School Administration team and School Front Desk.
