About The Position
The Demakes Family YMCA is seeking experienced, dependable, and energetic individuals to join our team as a Cafe Attendant & Server. This position is responsible for preparing and serving food and beverages while providing outstanding customer service in a safe, welcoming, and community-focused environment. Staff must have prior food service experience and uphold high food safety standards.
Requirements
- Minimum 1–2 years of food service experience (restaurant, café, catering, or similar)
- Valid ServSafe Certification (required)
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
Responsibilities
- Greet and serve guests in a friendly and professional manner
- Prepare coffee, beverages, and light café items according to established guidelines
- Operate POS system and handle cash transactions accurately
- Review café inventory and report café needs
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of café, kitchen, and service areas
- Monitor proper food storage and temperature controls
- Follow all local and state health department regulations
- Complete opening and closing duties as assigned
- Support the YMCA mission by promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere
