This position is responsible for providing friendly, efficient customer service while preparing and serving menu items in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
Requirements
- Must be certified in CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid. (Training provided by the Y, if needed)
- Must complete all required annual compliance training within 30 days of hire and renewed annually.
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in a service-oriented environment.
- Basic math skills and the ability to accurately handle cash and process transactions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 30 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve menu items according to established recipes and served in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting members and guests, taking orders, answering questions, and making menu recommendations.
- Customize menu items to meet guest preferences while maintaining recipe standards.
- Accurately process cash, credit card, and other payment transactions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary café, including food preparation areas, dining areas, and equipment.
- Complete an inventory checklist throughout scheduled shift.
- Communicate shortage of inventory to a supervisor.
- Follow all YMCA policies and health department regulations related to food handling, sanitation, and workplace safety.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cleaning, stocking, and basic equipment maintenance.
- Develop meaningful and sustainable relationships with members, donors, and volunteers.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of the YMCA Café.
