CAE Durability Engineer

InDepth Engineering Solutions, LLCTustin, CA

About The Position

This role focuses on battery system dynamics, including modal, random vibration, and shock analysis. The engineer will be responsible for developing random vibration profiles for pack-in-fixture (PIF) testing, developing and tuning PIF fixtures to match vehicle response/damage, and performing PIF durability analysis of the battery system using finite element tools. The position involves interpreting CAE results, suggesting design changes for optimization, collaborating with design engineers and suppliers for data collection, participating in meshing and connecting parts, and developing analysis procedures for durability load cases and benchmarking.

Requirements

  • BS + 7 years, MS + 2 years or PhD in mechanical engineering or similar field.
  • Experience in ANSA, Abaqus, and Hyperview/META or similar software with application in the dynamic analysis of automotive structures.
  • Strong academic background in solid mechanics, materials, structural analysis, and dynamics.
  • Experience of preparing formal reports summarizing analysis results.
  • Basic knowledge of material properties associated with automotive structures and battery systems (metals, polymers, adhesives, conductors, electronics).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team work skill.

Responsibilities

  • Develop random vibration profiles for pack-in-fixture (PIF) testing.
  • Develop and tune PIF fixtures to match vehicle response/damage.
  • Perform PIF durability analysis of battery system using finite element tools such as Optistruct, ANSA, and Hyperview/META.
  • Interpret CAE results to design engineers and suggest feasible design changes for design optimization.
  • Cooperate with design engineers and suppliers to collect pertinent material properties, connection information, and relevant CAE modeling for analysis.
  • Participate in meshing and connecting parts based on the necessities of the team.
  • Participate in developing analysis procedure for durability load cases and benchmarking.
