About The Position

This is an office-based Civil CAD Technician position working with a team on civil construction projects using 3D CAD technology. The role produces detailed 3D construction models and CAD files, including 3D surface and terrain models, survey staking files, and stringless files for GPS- or Total Station-controlled construction equipment. Projects may include airports and commercial facilities, industrial and residential developments, warehouses and distribution centers, public works infrastructure, highways and bridges, drainage systems, and utilities.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in civil CAD or a related field.
• Proficiency in CAD software; Trimble Business Center and Civil 3D are preferred.
• Understanding of civil design and commonly used civil engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret civil engineering plans and documents.
• Ability to understand drafting standards and design documentation.
• Experience examining and checking engineering drawings for compliance with cited specifications.
• Ability to draft and clearly communicate requests for information (RFIs) and proposals to Project Managers and Engineers.
• Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail, strong organizational and time-management skills, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong technical aptitude and knowledge of basic computer technology.
• Dependability and ability to work independently with little supervision as well as with a team.
• Ability to work extended hours as required by the workload.
• Knowledge of construction and civil engineering principles and practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Trimble Business Center (TBC); candidates with a strong CAD background may be considered and training will be provided.
• Associate degree in Engineering, Drafting Technology, or a similar field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Draft 3D site models and survey staking files using CAD software, including Trimble Business Center and Civil 3D.
• Assist in reviewing designs for consistency, safety, operability, and maintenance requirements.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and other stakeholders to develop accurate designs.
• Maintain and organize accurate records and files.
• Perform quality control checks on completed designs.
• Communicate effectively with project team members and clients.
• Coordinate design and constructability solutions with internal staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
