About The Position

Precision Surveying & Consulting, Inc. is hiring a CAD Technician to support civil engineering and land surveying projects. The position involves drafting and calculating construction staking points, preparing staking documents for field crews, maintaining project information, drafting topographic surveys, interpreting engineering plans, and creating plans, maps, and details. The role requires attention to detail, strong math and communication skills, and the ability to work cooperatively with staff and partially manage projects. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional Saturdays as needed. It reports to the Survey Manager.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent certificate; an associate degree is preferred.
• 0–3 years of experience employed in a civil engineering or surveying office.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and Carlson.
• Ability to comprehend basic CAD program functions.
• Basic knowledge of survey drafting, including bearings and distances.
• Basic computer skills for downloading and uploading TXT files.
• Ability to comprehend engineering plans.
• Strong math skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Draft basic lines and arcs accurately.
• Draft and calculate staking points for construction projects accurately.
• Print staking documents for field crews.
• Maintain and update project information as needed.
• Draft topographic surveys accurately and ensure the depicted information is clear.
• Comprehend engineering plans and accurately plot construction layouts using plan information.
• Apply plan layout and production standards.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations for engineering and surveying documents.
• Convert measurement units, including inches, into standard survey units (hundredths of a foot).
• Create civil engineering and surveying documents, including plans, maps, and details.
• Work cooperatively with staff and partially manage projects.
• Communicate with clients in a professional and timely manner.
• Attend required company training programs.
• Perform other duties assigned by a supervisor or manager.
