About The Position

The CAD Technician develops new structural designs, reviews customer supplied designs and supplies cost efficient die imposition layouts to estimating for pricing that meet manufacturing requirements. Provides prototypes to customers and manufacturing for approvals. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fork-lift vehicles. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: regularly standing, walking, climbing, bending, lifting, pushing/pulling, grasping, reaching at, below or above shoulder level, repetitive use of hands/fingers, visual and/or auditory requirements. Frequently handling up to 25 lbs. of weight, and occasionally 25 to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fork-lift vehicles. This is a full-time position with minimal flexibility in work schedules/hours, but the employee should generally be available during the “core” work hours and for an 8-hour shift and must agree to variation in work schedules/hours, all duties as assigned, and all overtime. Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to apply good judgement and carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • High school graduate or GED with technical schooling in computer-aided design (CAD) is a minimum requirement.
  • Proficient in CAD software.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Windows and Office.
  • Analytical and multitasking skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Above average skills in numeracy and various measuring tools.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, manufacturing processes, quality and cost efficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • A college degree or certificate in a related field is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Creating new designs and reviewing customer supplied designs to meet manufacturing requirements.
  • Creating detailed layouts for quoting and preparing files for die tooling orders.
  • Working with customers and vendors on new designs.
  • Working with manufacturing to ensure designs are machinable.
  • Produce samples and mockups using various techniques and skills such as cutting tables (Kongsberg Table).
  • Able to work independently as well as on a team and efficiently schedule and manage time.
  • Ability to learn and understand machine capabilities.
  • Lead Pre-Production meetings with Project management, Purchasing and Manufacturing.
  • Other duties to be performed as assigned.
