About The Position

The CAD/Manufacturing Technician is the drafting and technical documentation engine of Workplace Modular Systems - translating product knowledge into accurate, buildable drawings that support both the sales quoting process and engineering execution. The role is the primary drafter for customer quote drawings, working closely with sales to produce clear, professional visuals that help win business. It also partners directly with engineering to develop and maintain manufacturing drawings, models, and assemblies that keep production running accurately and efficiently. Beyond drafting, the role extends into manufacturing support - owning process documentation, quality fundamentals ensure the shop floor operates to a consistent, repeatable standard. This is a hands-on, experience-driven role that sits at the intersection of sales, engineering, and production. The company will provide training and support in any areas requiring reinforcement.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of the company's products, processes, and manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency or strong aptitude in SolidWorks and Trutops Boost (training provided where needed).
  • Experience in manufacturing quality, inspection, process improvement, and/or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of welding, forming, cutting, paint, logistics and assembly processes.
  • Strong attention to detail, a methodical standards-driven approach, and openness to learning and change.

Responsibilities

  • Create and modify quote and manufacturing drawings, models, and assemblies in SolidWorks; maintain the CAD/manufacturing library and revision tracking; produce renderings.
  • First-article inspection, quality documentation, and defect root-cause follow-up.
  • Develop and maintain the production/process documentation.
  • Program fabrication equipment with Trutops Boost.
  • Codify institutional knowledge into clear, documented processes and work instructions.
  • Support onboarding and knowledge transfer for incoming production leaders.
  • As needed and at the direction of area leadership, fill in on roles within his areas of competence to support coverage, training, and peak demand - in support of the area leaders' authority, and in a way that transfers knowledge and reduces single-person dependencies over time.
