About The Position

The Draftsman/CAD Drafter prepares accurate technical drawings and construction documents for manufactured homes. This position works closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Purchasing, and Management to ensure plans are complete, accurate, code-compliant, and practical for production. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced with computer-aided drafting software and residential construction plans.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous CAD drafting experience required.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or comparable drafting software.
  • Ability to read and prepare construction drawings, specifications, and measurements.
  • Understanding of residential construction methods and materials.
  • Strong mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, managers, supervisors, and production employees.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certificate or associate degree in drafting, CAD, engineering technology, architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Residential construction, manufactured-housing, or modular-building experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable manufactured-housing and building requirements is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create and revise manufactured-home drawings using CAD software.
  • Prepare floor plans, elevations, sections, framing plans, and construction details.
  • Develop drawings for structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and production needs.
  • Convert design concepts and customer selections into accurate production drawings.
  • Review plans for correct measurements, dimensions, materials, and construction details.
  • Make plan revisions based on engineering changes, production needs, customer requests, or code requirements.
  • Maintain accurate drawing records, revision dates, and version control.
  • Work with engineers to ensure plans meet applicable building, safety, and company requirements.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to confirm materials and specifications.
  • Communicate with Production to resolve drawing questions or construction issues.
  • Visit the production floor when needed to review designs and identify practical solutions.
  • Assist with preparing material lists, specifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Complete drawings according to assigned schedules and project deadlines.
  • Review completed work carefully before releasing plans to production.
  • Protect confidential company, customer, and design information.
  • Perform additional drafting or engineering-support duties as assigned.
