About The Position

This role provides essential CAD design and drafting support using AutoCAD and Visio, along with managing revision control through SolidWorks PDM Pro and Propel PLM. The CAD Drafter will collaborate with various teams to understand and prioritize drafting/design support needs, estimate task durations, and support the creation and submission of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs). The position involves working from engineer-provided sketches and specifications to design static aids and dynamic fixtures for product testing and manufacturing, assisting in the creation of engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs), and supporting lifecycle changes and production releases of drawings. Additionally, the role will provide electrical engineering support for issue resolution through drawing modifications and participate in process improvement activities and departmental projects.

Requirements

Two-year technical degree.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in creating drawings for electrical parts, electrical assemblies, electrical cable assemblies, schematics, and interconnect diagrams.
Experience with PLM CAD data management (Velo3D is currently using Propel).
Experience in creating electrical assembly drawings and drawing BOMs.
Experience with drawing design reviews and check-ins through ECO process.
Experience with instruction creation.
General understanding of GD&T and quality detail drawing documentation.
Demonstrated knowledge of GD&T and the use of CAD tools to create/refine designs and drawings for assemblies and custom panels, cables, and schematics.
Familiarity with fabricated components, sheet metal, and machined parts is a must.
Understanding of dimensional tolerance capabilities of process such as injection molding, castings, machine parts, and sheet metal components.
Knowledge of component finishing processes, plating, heat treatment, paint/powder coating.
Excellent time management skills with attention to detail.

Ability to solve problems, multi-task, and work in fast paced environment.
Experience working as an independent contributor and as a member of the team.

Responsibilities

Provide CAD design/drafting support as needed using AutoCAD and Visio.
Provide and maintain revision control using SolidWorks PDM Pro and Propel PLM.
Work with various teams to identify drafting/design support needs and schedule workload based on priorities set by management.
Identify the scope of design/drafting support needs requested by engineering teams.
Estimate time required to complete support activities.
Support Engineering with creation and submission of ECOs.
Work from rough sketches and specifications created by engineers to design static aids and dynamic fixtures used in testing and manufacturing of products.
Assist in creating engineering BOMs on drawings and in ERP systems.
Assist in lifecycle changes and production release of drawings via ECOs.
Provide electrical engineering support for resolution of field and manufacturing issues via drawing changes.
Initiate and participate in process improvement activities as approved and directed by supervisor.
Participate in and support department projects and company initiatives as required.
