Drafter

Kamran Culinex LLC•Santa Barbara, CA
•$23 - $27•Onsite

About The Position

The CAD Drafter produces the drawing set behind every foodservice project — equipment plans, elevations, sections, and utility rough-in drawings — working from designer markups, project documents, and established company drawing standards. This role turns design intent into accurate, buildable, consistently formatted documents that contractors install from and inspectors approve. The work rewards precision above all: a dimension off by two inches on a drawing becomes a piece of equipment that does not fit on a jobsite three months later.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of CAD drafting experience in foodservice, architectural, mechanical, or a related technical field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, including external references, layer management, blocks, and plotting.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings.
  • Meticulous dimensional accuracy and attention to drawing consistency.
  • Ability to take direction from designers, manage multiple drawing assignments, and meet issue dates.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial foodservice equipment drafting experience.
  • Revit and BIM coordination experience, including working with foodservice equipment families.
  • Associate degree or certificate in drafting, CAD technology, or architectural technology.
  • Familiarity with AutoQuotes, Bluebeam, and manufacturer cut sheet libraries.

Responsibilities

  • Produce equipment plans, elevations, sections, and details in AutoCAD from designer markups, sketches, and project documents.
  • Develop utility rough-in drawings showing plumbing, electrical, and mechanical connection points, sizes, and locations per manufacturer cut sheets.
  • Create and update drawing sets through design development, permit, and construction issue phases.
  • Process revisions accurately, including revision clouds, deltas, and title block updates.
  • Apply company CAD standards for layers, line weights, text styles, symbols, and title blocks on every drawing.
  • Maintain block, symbol, and detail libraries and keep them current as equipment lines change.
  • Manage drawing files, external references, and file naming so the current version is always identifiable.
  • Plot and publish PDF drawing sets for submittal, permit, and distribution.
  • Incorporate architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing backgrounds into foodservice drawings and keep them updated as the backgrounds change.
  • Check drawings for dimensional accuracy, clearance requirements, and consistency across the set before they are issued.
  • Verify equipment dimensions and utility requirements against manufacturer cut sheets and specifications.
  • Flag conflicts, missing information, and discrepancies to the Designer or Senior Designer rather than drawing around them.
  • Support preparation of equipment schedules, cut sheet packages, and submittal documents.
  • Maintain drawing logs, issue records, and the project drawing archive.
  • Assist with as-built drawing updates from field markups at project closeout.
  • Record and report all hours worked accurately, including overtime.
