About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CAD Drafter to join our Engineering team, specifically supporting our Instrument Transformer business. In this role, you will work closely with design engineers to translate technical specifications into accurate production drawings and customer-facing outline drawings. Beyond day-to-day drafting, you will assist in developing 3D models in SolidWorks to support prototyping and broader engineering initiatives. The ideal candidate is not only technically proficient but also possesses a proactive "can-do" attitude, eager to drive process improvements and collaborate effectively across diverse teams.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of professional experience in mechanical drafting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Strong knowledge of drafting standards and a deep understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) for technical drawing accuracy.
  • Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience in mechanical drafting or a related technical field, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • A self-starter who takes ownership of tasks and looks for opportunities to add value beyond the immediate scope of work.
  • A solutions-oriented mindset, particularly when faced with engineering challenges or tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work harmoniously and communicate effectively with individuals across various departments and personality types.
  • A strong desire to help drive change and evolve departmental workflows to support business growth.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with SAP or a similar ERP system is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and maintain precise production drawings and customer outline drawings using AutoCAD, ensuring all output meets industry standards.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to production drawings to ensure clarity, manufacturing feasibility, and quality control.
  • Develop and refine 3D models in SolidWorks to support new product development, prototyping, and engineering projects.
  • Partner with design engineers to ensure all drawings meet quality standards, manufacturing requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Utilize SAP to manage part numbers, bills of materials (BOMs), and document control processes.
  • Actively contribute to departmental efficiency by identifying areas for process optimization and helping to drive positive change.
  • Maintain organized project files and ensure all drafting documentation is kept current and compliant with internal standards.
