Leidos is seeking a CAD Drafter Intern for its Walled Lake, MI office, to join a dynamic team within the Industrial Transformation division. This division consists of Controls Engineers who work with industrial clients across North America to create building automation solutions. The CAD Drafter Intern will work under the guidance of a seasoned CAD Drafter in a fast-paced setting, performing various drafting and detailing functions using AutoCAD software for industrial clients. The intern is expected to develop skills in electrical control system drafting and progressively work with more independence. This role offers the opportunity to work while attending school, accommodating the intern's schedule. The qualified individual will collaborate closely with multiple design engineers and designers to execute automation projects, ensuring high quality, efficiency, and productivity in drafting and detailing tasks.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree with at least 1 year of relevant drafting and detailing class experience with AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques and procedures
  • Ability to create and/or modify drawings from engineer-provided markups with a high level of attention to details
  • Proficiency with Windows operating system environments
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Experience with file sharing, document management and collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, FTP, SharePoint, etc.
  • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills within a team environment
  • Highly organized and efficient
  • Ability to understand and implement a wide range of client CAD standards
  • Ability to perform tasks in a fast-paced engineering/production environment

Responsibilities

  • Perform various drafting and detailing functions using AutoCAD software for industrial clients
  • Develop skills in electrical control system drafting
  • Work closely with multiple design engineers and designers to complete Drafting and Detailing tasks
  • Create and/or modify Industrial Control Panel drawings, including Electrical Ladder Diagrams, Schematics, SCADA and Communication drawings, Control Panel Front and Internal Views and Layouts, Wiring Diagrams, Interconnection Drawings, and other miscellaneous drawings as required by project scope
