About The Position

Leidos is seeking a CAD Drafter Intern for their Walled Lake, MI office. This role involves working as a member of a dynamic team within the Industrial Transformation division, focusing on creating building automation solutions for industrial clients across North America. The intern will be mentored by a seasoned CAD Drafter and will perform various drafting and detailing functions using AutoCAD software. The position offers the opportunity to develop skills in electrical control system drafting and work with increasing independence, while accommodating school schedules. The intern will collaborate closely with design engineers and designers to complete drafting and detailing tasks with a high level of quality, efficiency, and productivity.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree with at least 1 year of relevant drafting and detailing class experience with AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to create and/or modify drawings from engineer-provided markups with a high level of attention to details.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating system environments.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Experience with file sharing, document management and collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, FTP, SharePoint, etc.
  • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills within a team environment.
  • Highly organized and efficient.
  • Ability to understand and implement a wide range of client CAD standards.
  • Ability to perform tasks in a fast-paced engineering/production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform drafting and detailing functions using AutoCAD software for various industrial clients.
  • Work under the mentorship of a seasoned CAD Drafter.
  • Develop skills in electrical control system drafting.
  • Complete Drafting and Detailing tasks at a high level of quality, efficiency and productivity.
  • Create and/or modify drawings from engineer-provided markups.
  • Understand and implement a wide range of client CAD standards.
  • Perform tasks in a fast-paced engineering/production environment.
