CAD Drafter/Designer
About The Position
Avalon International Aluminum is searching for a driven CAD Drafter looking for an opportunity to break into the field. We are searching for an individual with not only design ability but also someone that has experience building “Production Documents” (PD). This position will require the Drafter to split their time 50/50 between designing and producing “Production Documents” (PD). Bring a product from concept to reality through manufacturing. This position is primarily responsible for estimating projects using available software packages, providing CAD support to translate customer orders into appropriate shop input files. Additionally, this position will be responsible for maintaining the CAD section's Access reports. This will include generating several bill of materials to projects designed by other members of the CAD section.
Requirements
- Be able to read and interpret project specifications, floorplans, blueprints, and schedules.
- Drafting technology knowledge with a proficiency in AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Access

- Familiarity with one or more 3D CAD software tools (Autodesk preferred).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Knowledge of metal fabrication methods and materials.

- Comfortable converting fractions and basic algebraic functions.

- CNC experience a plus

Responsibilities
- Utilize 2D and 3D CAD software (Primary AutoCAD and secondary Inventor) to create shop files and drawings to aid in estimating and fabrication.
- Prepare work for fabrication on behalf of customers using AutoCAD, Microsoft Access, Inventor and Excel.
- Generate a Bill of Materials and produce production documents for fabrication.
- Ensure timely output of drawings for customer review and approval.
- Review projects for quality.
- Use software tools to streamline and improve existing processes.
- Work in a team atmosphere with Fabrication, Purchasing, and Shipping to satisfy our customers and provide solutions to their problems.
- Assist with new product development activities.
- Estimate projects using available software packages.
- Provide CAD support to translate customer orders into appropriate shop input files.
- Maintain the CAD section's Access reports.
- Generate several bill of materials to projects designed by other members of the CAD section.
