CAD Drafter/Designer - Inventor Experience
About The Position
Avalon International Aluminum is searching for a driven CAD Drafter looking for an opportunity to break into the field. This position will require the Drafter to split their time 50/50 between designing and producing “Production Documents” (PD). The role involves bringing a product from concept to reality through manufacturing, translating 2D and 3D geometry into physical working parts. The primary responsibility is estimating projects using available software packages, providing CAD support to translate customer orders into appropriate shop input files, and maintaining the CAD section's Access reports. This includes generating several bill of materials for projects designed by other members of the CAD section.
Requirements
- Drafting technology knowledge with a proficiency in AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Access
- General mechanical aptitude
- Familiarity with one or more 3D CAD software tools (Autodesk preferred).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to work independently under general supervision.
Nice To Haves
- Experience building “Production Documents” (PD).
- CNC experience
- Knowledge of metal fabrication methods and materials.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret project specifications, floorplans, blueprints, and schedules.
- Utilize 2D and 3D CAD software (Primary AutoCAD and secondary Inventor) to create shop files and drawings to aid in estimating and fabrication.
- Prepare work for fabrication on behalf of customers using AutoCAD, Microsoft Access, Inventor and Excel.
- Generate a Bill of Materials and produce production documents for fabrication.
- Ensure timely output of drawings for customer review and approval.
- Review projects for quality.
- Use software tools to streamline and improve existing processes.
- Work in a team atmosphere with Fabrication, Purchasing, and Shipping to satisfy customers and provide solutions.
- Convert fractions and perform basic algebraic functions.
- Assist with new product development activities.
- Estimate projects using available software packages.
- Provide CAD support to translate customer orders into appropriate shop input files.
- Maintain the CAD section's Access reports.
- Generate several bill of materials to projects designed by other members of the CAD section.
