About The Position

Chrome Hearts is seeking a creative and detail-oriented CAD Designer to join our Metal Design Production / Research & Development team. In this role, you will focus on translating aesthetic concepts into detailed 3D geometry and 2D drawings while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Your designs will play a key role in maintaining the brand's distinct aesthetic and quality, from concept through production. This position emphasizes creative problem-solving, an eye for design trends, and attention to detail, ensuring a balance between artistry and manufacturability.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of experience in 3D modeling, with a focus on design aesthetics, manufacturability, and direct collaboration with creative teams.
Experience with organic modeling tools such as Rhinoceros 3D and ZBrush to craft intricate, artistic designs.
Experience with SolidWorks for tooling and precision design.
Strong ability to design for aesthetics without compromising manufacturability.
Familiarity with materials such as precious metals, tool steel, plastics, and wood, as well as an understanding of finishes and textures.
Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to translate abstract concepts into polished 3D models.
Experience creating manufacturing documents (BOMs, assembly drawings, work instructions, product sheets).
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and adept at managing digital files and design documentation.
Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate with creative and production teams.
Submission of a portfolio showcasing aesthetic-driven 3D modeling projects, with an emphasis on artistic and hard-surface geometry.
Rhinoceros 7 (minimum of 2,000 hours).
ZBrush for organic modeling and intricate designs.
SolidWorks for detailed product development and engineering support.
KeyShot for high-quality rendering and visual presentations.
Proficiency in 3D product design and crafting aesthetically compelling, manufacturable models.
Expertise in design for manufacturing, ensuring designs are production-ready.
Experience with 3D printing for prototyping and design validation.
Familiarity with 3D scanning tools and processes to create or refine models.

Nice To Haves

Experience with rapid prototyping or CNC processes is beneficial but secondary to a strong aesthetic design foundation.

Responsibilities

Create detailed 3D geometry and 2D drawings with a focus on aesthetic integrity and manufacturable design, working from input provided by the design and production teams.
Collaborate with teams to design visually compelling and manufacturable products, fixtures, and technical documentation.
Develop new design concepts, materials, and finishes that align with the brand's creative direction and heritage.
Apply expertise in material properties for precious metals, metals, plastics, and wood, ensuring designs meet functional and aesthetic requirements.
Stay current with design trends and historical brand aesthetics to shape future product designs.
Work with prototypes, inspecting physical parts against 3D models to ensure visual and dimensional accuracy.
Use digital tools to organize, present, and store design data effectively.
Communicate design concepts visually, verbally, and in writing, fostering collaboration across departments.
Adapt insights from existing manufacturing processes, product designs, and materials to shape future development projects.
Articulate and understand complex concepts visually, verbally, and in written form.
Process information from many sources, in different formats, to build a complete design package used to interface with manufacturing and suppliers.
Organize and store information in digital format.
